How to watch a home run without having to buy an app
The Globe and Mail: In its annual rankings, The Associated Press says the United States has lost a record number of home runs this year, a trend that could have consequences for baseball’s future.
The AP says that in 2017, the U.S. had 883 home runs, while in 2016 it had 851.
The Associated American Press says that, since 2011, home runs in baseball have gone up by 4.5 per cent a year.
In 2017, that’s a 7 per cent increase.
In addition, the AP notes that the number of players with at least 10 home runs is up by about 10 per cent.
The AP says the number has gone up as players have been better able to score.
The new record for the most home runs scored in a season is 11, set by New York Yankees slugger Derek Jeter.
Jeter had 11 home runs and three triples in the 2016 season.
He was the first player to hit 10 home run and three triple-triple doubles in the same season.
In addition to Jeter, the previous record for a player to score 10 home or more was 15 by Willie Mays in 1956.
